Travel to/in Bucharest

  • Bucharest airport
  • The main method advised to come to Bucharest/Romania is by Airplane in our international Airport Otopeni (OTP)
  • There are direct flights from all major cities
  • Use the public transport (Metro or STB) whenever possible
  • The use of Uber/Bolt is preferable instead of local taxi companies
  • Pay attention to taxi companies and look at the taxi meter
  • The easiest way of reaching Bucharest from the airport is with Uber/Bolt or with the train (the train station is located at the exit from the Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport and the train arrives at the Gara de Nord train station, with a connection to the Metro)

Visa

Romania is in Schengen, so no visas are required for Schengen. Also, other exemptions are in place (no visa needed). Please check the following official website for VISA requirements:

The local organizers will provide invitation letters to all participants. For the cases in which a VISA is needed, one can use the letter for VISA application. For those who don't need a VISA, the letter can be carried in case of a need to prove the purpose of travelling.

Invitation Letter

An invitation letter will be provided to the participants of the school. It is intended to present to the customs officers to explain the purpose of your visit in case you are asked.

If you need to apply for a Schengen visa, please request a formal invitation letter from the LOC.
