DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Morad El Baz\, Yahya Tayalati (Universite Mohammed V
(MA))\n\n\nQuantum Impact Hackathon – Rabat 2026\nThe Quantum Impact Ha
ckathon – Rabat 2026 is a regional\, hands-on event dedicated to the app
lication of quantum computing technologies to real-world challenges of hig
h societal relevance. It aims to bring together students and young researc
hers from across Africa\, and connect them with international mentors\, sp
eakers\, and jury members to collaboratively explore how quantum computing
can contribute to sustainable development.\nThe hackathon focuses on prac
tical problem-solving\, encouraging participants to move beyond theoretica
l concepts and work on concrete use cases related to health\, clean energy
\, and climate action\, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable D
 evelopment Goals (SDGs).\nA practical and impact-driven approach\nUnlike t
raditional academic events that emphasize lectures or purely theoretical d
iscussions\, the Quantum Impact Hackathon places hands-on experimentation
and teamwork at the core of the experience. Participants will work in mult
idisciplinary teams\, guided by experts from academia\, research instituti
ons\, and industry worldwide\, to develop proofs of concept\, algorithms\,
or prototype solutions using modern quantum computing tools and platforms
.\nThe proposed challenges are inspired by ongoing development projects an
d regional priorities in Morocco and across Africa\, highlighting the pote
ntial benefits of quantum computing for addressing large-scale societal an
 d technological challenges.\nStrengthening Africa’s quantum ecosystem th
rough global collaboration\nOrganized by the Faculty of Sciences of the Un
iversity Mohammed V in Rabat\, in collaboration with Université Mohammed
VI Polytechnique (UM6P) and the Open Quantum Institute (OQI) through its H
ackathon in a box program\, this hackathon is embedded within a broader ec
osystem-building dynamic.\nBy combining Moroccan and African talent with i
nternational expertise\, the event aims to:\n\nbuild and strengthen quantu
m computing capacity across Africa\,\nfoster collaboration between African
institutions and global experts\,\nencourage knowledge transfer and mento
rship at an international level\,\nraise awareness among stakeholders and
decision-makers about the strategic importance of quantum technologies for
the continent.\n\nWho is the hackathon for?\nThe Quantum Impact Hackathon
  – Rabat 2026 is intended for:\n\nMaster’s and PhD students from Afric
 an universities\,\nhighly motivated final-year Bachelor (BSc / Licence L3)
students\,\nyoung African researchers and professionals in transition\,\n
engineering students\n\nParticipants will be primarily selected through fa
culty nominations to ensure academic quality\, diversity\, and meaningful
engagement.\nMentors\, invited speakers\, and jury members will be drawn f
rom a global pool of experts\, ensuring high-level scientific guidance and
  international visibility for participants.\n \n\nhttps://indico.cern.ch/e
