  by CERN and will run from October 5th to October 8th at the Royal Plaza h
 otel in Montreux\, Switzerland.\n \nOverview\nVacuum arcs are a concern i
 n nearly every vacuum device under electric field\; consequently they are 
 present in a very wide range of applications. Sometimes vacuum arcs form t
 he basis for device operation\, but all too often they are the primary fai
 lure mode.\nUnderstanding the physical processes of a vacuum arc requires 
 expertise from many disciplines – material science\, surface physics\, a
 nd plasma physics. Applications include high-voltage electronics\, RF acce
 lerators\, electrostatic accelerators and vacuum interrupters. The purpose
  of this workshop series is to bring together scientists and engineers fro
 m many different disciplines and application areas to discuss the latest e
 fforts in understanding vacuum arcs. This four-day residential event build
 s on previous successful workshops and will cover theory\, simulation\, ex
