Stainless steel dummy testing has been completed.
Testing is now ongoing with the copper dummy.
The coil is currently in metrology and is expected to be returned next week or the following week.
Testing campaigns:
Universal testing machine setup with instrumentation mounted on top of the coil.
Manual setup with an observation window, allowing the coil to be visually monitored from above during testing.
Wrap-up of measurement setups used over time.
Current status:
Semi-automated measurement and evaluation pipeline implemented.
Measurement resolution is sufficient to detect deviations from nominal behavior.
Simulations performed at higher temperatures using the original pancake architecture.
Results indicate a temperature limit of approximately 40–45 K to reach the critical current.
Mechanical considerations:
Structural protection and casing are required. This includes:
An outer shell.
Internal support to withstand both inward and outward forces during cooldown and ramping of the background magnetic field.
