CineGlobe 2026 – Transitions

Pour sa 15e édition, CineGlobe explore les transitions énergétiques, écologiques, technologiques et générationnelles. 

Créé en 2007 au CERN, CineGlobe est un festival international de films inspirés par la science. Projections, ateliers et expériences immersives : CineGlobe propose un dialogue vivant entre art, sciences, société et éducation.

Cette édition s’inscrit dans la saison culturelle du CERN « Génération Higgs », dédiée à la transmission des savoirs à la génération qui grandit après la découverte du boson de Higgs. Changements d’état, passages, transformations : le thème de CineGlobe 2026 invite à interroger ces zones de bascule - parfois progressives, parfois brutales - où un équilibre se défait et un autre se construit.

La soirée du vendredi 5 juin marque le lancement du festival avec le film d’ouverture « Arco », nominé pour le Meilleur film d'animation aux Oscars 2026 et lauréat du Cristal du Meilleur Long-métrage au Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy 2025.

Les 6 et 7 juin, le festival continue avec une programmation ouverte à toutes et tous – familles, cinéphiles et curieux et curieuses – et une série d’ateliers accessibles à tous les âges. 

Au programme : expériences d’optique et de perception, DIY autour des cinémas d’animation (techniques simples et fabrication), ainsi que d’autres formats participatifs pour explorer la science et le cinéma par la pratique.

Durant tout le weekend, CineGlobe propose un parcours entre cinéma, science et création immersive à travers une multitude d'activités différentes :

• Compétitions internationales de courts métrages et de projets immersifs en réalité virtuelle
• Documentaires scientifiques
• Installations immersives et expériences interactives
• Ateliers et éducation à l’image pour pour le grand public
• Trois soirées mêlant longs-métrages, discussions, performance audiovisuelle et remise de prix

For its 15th edition, CineGlobe explores energy, ecological, technological and generational transitions.

Created at CERN in 2007, CineGlobe is an international film festival inspired by science. Through screenings, workshops and immersive experiences, the festival builds a lively dialogue between art, science, society and education.

This edition is part of CERN’s cultural season “Generation Higgs”, dedicated to sharing knowledge with the generation growing up after the discovery of the Higgs boson. State changes, passages, transformations: CineGlobe 2026 theme invites you to explore turning points - sometimes gradual, sometimes sudden - where one balance fades and another emerges. Together, we look at stories where science, society and possible futures resonate.

The evening of Friday 5 June marks the start of the festival with the opening film, "Arco", nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 2026 Oscars and Winner of the Cristal Award for Best Feature Film at the 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

On 6 and 7 June, the festival continues with a programme open to everyone – families, film lovers and curious minds – and a series of hands-on workshops for all ages. 

Highlights include optics and perception experiments, DIY image-making and simple devices, animation filmmaking (easy techniques and making), and other participatory formats to explore science and cinema through practice.

Over three days, CineGlobe offers a journey across cinema, science and immersive creation:

• International competitions for short films and immersive projects in virtual reality
• Science documentaries
• Immersive installations and interactive experiences
• Workshops and film education for the public and families
• Three special evenings featuring films screenings, discussions, an audiovisual performance and the awards ceremony.
