DESCRIPTION:       \n     \nWe are very excited to announce a works
 hop on software basics in HEP organised through the HEP Software Foundatio
 n\, IRIS-HEP\, and the Office of Workforce Development & Science Educatio
 n (WDSE) at Brookhaven National Laboratory.\nThe times for the workshop ar
 e in US Eastern time zone.\nOver two days we will cover the fundamentals o
 f: \nUnix (e.g. shell\, bash and scripting)  \nGit and Github – how to
  version control your code and data  \nPython – fundamentals of using 
 the Python language for analysis\nAI-assisted code  – Introductory conc
 epts in AI and assisted coding\, and a discussion on best practices\nThis 
 training is aimed at those who are new to HEP and want a fast-track to com
 petency with software fundamentals\, as well the non-expert self-taught wh
 o wish to ensure they do not have gaps in their knowledge.\nThe training m
 aterial will be taught by tutors expert in HEP software. Interactive hands
 -on sessions  lead by the tutor will be supported by a number of helpers 
 to ensure all participants are able to follow and understand the material.
 \nGiven the limited number of participants\, all participants are expected
  to attend the whole workshop.\nPlease contact the organizers (email us) i
