Part 1: Screening of the documentary Anomaly Detection (16.00 - 17.25)
Anomaly Detection tells the story of a group of young physicists at CERN in Geneva, coming from different parts of the world, working to develop the first and fastest AI tool capable of detecting anomalies among the 40 million collisions per second at the LHC particle accelerator. A tool designed to uncover new physical phenomena beyond the Higgs boson.
Part 2: Panel Exploring the frontiers of the unknown with AI (17.30 – 18.15)
Throughout history, discoveries have often begun with something unexpected. Today, artificial intelligence is transforming the way scientists search for hidden patterns and surprising signals in vast amounts of data. This panel brings together the “Anomaly Detection” documentary filmmaker and particle physicists' AI experts to discuss how machines may help us uncover the next scientific breakthroughs and the contours of this new kind of exploration.

Un outil conçu pour mettre au jour de nouveaux phénomènes physiques allant au-delà du boson de Higgs.

Au fil de l’histoire, les grandes découvertes ont souvent commencé par quelque chose d’inattendu. Aujourd’hui, l’intelligence artificielle transforme la manière dont les scientifiques recherchent des signaux inattendus et des motifs cachés au sein d’immenses volumes de données. Cette table ronde réunira le réalisateur du documentaire “Anomaly Detection” et des physiciens des particules spécialistes de l’IA pour discuter de la façon dont les machines pourraient contribuer aux prochaines percées scientifiques et des contours de cette exploration d’un nouveau type.
