Session 1: How to score penalties, the physics of football
The presentation will cover the most important ‘set play’ in football, the penalty kick. Research data will be shown covering the goalkeepers diving reach in attempting a save, and the optimum placement for success in a penalty shot will be described. Both standard penalties and ‘shoot -outs’ will be discussed and video extracts of actual events will be shown.

Session 1: Comment marquer un penalty ? La physique du football
Cette présentation portera sur la « situation de jeu arrêté » la plus importante du football : le penalty. Des données issues de recherches seront présentées concernant la portée des gardiens de but lorsqu’ils plongent pour tenter un arrêt, et le placement optimal pour réussir un penalty sera décrit. Les penalties classiques et les « séries de tirs au but » seront abordés, et des extraits vidéo de situations réelles seront diffusés.
