DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Raia Hadsell (Google DeepMind)\n\nAbstract: Frontier
AI is advancing rapidly: the simulated physics of Genie\, planetary-level
species and climate modeling\, and the embodied AI of Robotics are breaki
ng new ground. We are on the precipice of unlocking more advances in these
areas\, and the vision extends further. I will discuss the opportunities
and the challenges: AI has established new paradigms for understanding our
physical world\, yet there are important questions about the methods\, th
e results\, and the changing roles of scientists.\nBio: Raia joined Google
DeepMind in 2014 to advance its mission to build AI responsibly to benefi
t humanity. After a decade of contributions in continual learning\, reinfo
rcement learning\, and robotics\, she is now a VP of Research\, overseeing
groundbreaking research at Google DeepMind. Raia leads numerous teams exp
loring new AI innovations and models for critical challenges\, such as wea
ther and climate modeling. As a respected change leader in the broader AI
community\, Raia serves as an AI Ambassador for the UK government\, and wa
s the founder and first Editor-in-Chief of a new open journal\, Transactio
ns on Machine Learning Research (TMLR). \nThis seminar is part of the CER
N STEAM Academy Seminar Series. \nNetworking cocktail will follow the sem
inar. \nWith the support of CERN's Next Generation Triggers Project.\n\n
