DESCRIPTION: \nWe're excited to invite ATLAS students and postdocs to the
in-person ServiceX Summer Workshop at CERN! Over the course of a single d
ay\, you'll get up to speed on what ServiceX is\, how to use it\, and how
to start applying it in your own analysis. Lunch and dinner are included\,
and it is completely free for participants!\nWhat is ServiceX?\nServiceX
is a data delivery service for high-energy physics analyses. Rather than c
opying entire datasets to user/group directories or local machines\, Servi
ceX retrieves columnar data from remote storage on demand\, applies transf
ormations server-side\, and delivers only the subset of events and columns
the analysis requires in ready to use data formats.\nWhen to Use ServiceX
?\nServiceX is well-suited for the following use cases:\n\n\nDatasets rema
in on centralized infrastructure such as Rucio\, and only the required sub
set of events or columns is retrieved\n\n\nCuts and analysis selections ca
n be tested interactively without submitting grid jobs\n\n\nData can be ac
cessed and transformed without setting up a local analysis environments\n\
n\nPreparation for the Workshop\nIn preparation for the workshop we ask th
e following things:\n\nAvoid researching ServiceX and how to use it\, we a
re hoping to test our docs and curriculum throughout the workshop\nHave wo
rked on an analysis or within a framework used for analysis\nHave an inter
mediate or greater understanding of the tools used for ATLAS analysis\nBe
open minded about implementing new tools into your preexisting workflows!\
