Simulation of Nanocomposites and Nanodevices
This workshop will bring together experts in quantum materials, nanodevices, detector physics and simulation to discuss how particle interactions with emerging quantum detector technologies can be modelled. The workshop will cover the physics of devices such as quantum-dot and nanocomposite scintillators and other hybrid quantum sensors, with emphasis on how deposited energy is converted into a measurable signal. A major focus will be on connecting microscopic and device-level models with simulation frameworks used in high-energy physics, including Geant4 and related extensions. The workshop will explore how existing tools can be extended to include processes such as exciton, phonon and quasiparticle production and transport, as well as quantum-material and device response.
