  tantalizing solution to severalopen problems of particle physics and cosm
 ology\, including the origin ofthe neutrino masses\, the origin of the bar
 yon asymmetry and potentiallydark matter. In this talk we examine how the 
 HNL parameter space isconstrained by neutrino oscillation data\, bounds fr
 om direct andindirect searches and cosmological observations.Finally\, we 
 discuss the prospects of discovering HNLs at existing andnear-future facil
