The "evidence" is presented convincingly and the paper reads well in general, but I still have a few questions (see below). Suggestions for formulations will come after the next iteration. best regards Herbert -the paper suggests that the critical fluctuations (if seen) indicate that the critical point is located in the phase diagram close to mu_B and T as given by the freeze-out conditions. This is not obvious to me. Don't we need to comment about a situation in which the critical point does not coincide with the "freeze-out line"? -Figs. 4 and 5 are impressive. How about including the results into Fig.3? Also, the reader (referee) may ask for a similar analysis of the Si+Si data. Could it be done? If not we may comment on it. -The caption of Fig.3 needs a remark on R since the C-point is not different from the Pb-point. -Shouldn't we mention the results from Figs. 4 and 5 in the summary?? -the arguments in lines 4-8 on page 2 right column (local vs global) are not convincing. Maybe we need an example or more explanation here.
