To explore the frontiers of knowledge, future experiments will require improved detectors with higher performances and innovative functions. The challenge for the engineering field is the capacity to integrate innovative technologies and to monitor numerous intertwined parameters. This paper gives a prospective study aiming to prepare the future phase of experiment conception. Some orientations for engineering tools and methodologies for the design and construction of large instruments are proposed.
