Domenico Vicinanza 1-31 August 2006 Major work for EUMEDGRID WP2 ---------------------------------------------------------------- The major effort for the EUMEDGRID WP2 has been carried out by finishing writing, editing and revising the Deliverable 2.2. The final draft has been submitted for review at the end of August. Completed: Chapter 5 (Conclusions) Chapter 2, sections 1 and 2 Missing: 2 NGIs factsheets for Chapter 4, which have to be provided by Israel and Tunisia. Major work for EUMEDGRID WP3 and Testing ---------------------------------------------------------------- Started the SAM (System Availability Monitoring) installation and testing after the tutorial, given at CERN/IT by Piotr Nyczyk on July 18th. - The SAM server has been installed on a Linux CERN machine lxb6114.cern.ch and successfully tested - The SAM client has been installed on a Linux UI in Catania (glite-tutor.ct.infn.it) During the installation some concerns happened mainly due to the very young age of installation scripts (someones are still missing) and the missing documentation for some of the procedures. The as-of-today status is a working server, reachable at: https://lxb6114.cern.ch/sam/sam.py and a client able to launch tests (even if they fails) and upload results in the database. Still missing or to-do: - completing client configuration (the list of critical test has be inserted manually. Judit Novak is going to prepare a script by the first days of September) - sometime there are some interaction problems between the client and server sides which mysteriously happens (maybe due to an Oracle bug) Alexandre Duarte set up a TWiki page on SAM installation available at: http://goc.grid.sinica.edu.tw/gocwiki/Installation_Manual and I am working on the written documentation (to be syncronized with the online one) Major events attended (include links to event/presentation) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Attended the EGEE All Activities Tutorial held at CERN on August 24th and 25th. Attending since August 22 the IT/OPS weekly section meetings Plans to attend/organize major events (intra-EGEE and others) ------------------------------------------------------------- - Participation to the EELA conference (where I am invited to give a talk about a sonification package I developed when I was working at the Univ. of Salerno, Italy and which has been officially taken as one of the regional applications for the EELA project) and Tutorial (where I am going to participate as tutor, giving six tutorial lectures), to be held in Santiago (Chile) from September 4th to 7th. - Participation to the EUMEDGRID Project Meeting (September 14th) and Conference (September 15th), to be held in Rome, University of Roma3. Holidays during the periond ------------------------------------------------------------ 10 days
