Data Acquisition is the process of turning a measureable physical phenomenon or property into a unified, quantifying value that can be used in later processing. This lecture aims to give an introduction to modern DAQ systems, from single sensors to multi million channel installations. Topics are: digitisation, triggering, data transport, data accumulation, data storage and book keeping.
