The duality between color and kinematics allows us to probe supergravity theories to unprecedented loop orders. Various surprises in the ultraviolet behavior of such theories are discussed showing that they are tamer in the ultraviolet than had been anticipated. We also show how recent calculations rule out proposed superspaces that might have explained the observed finiteness of pure half-maximal supergravity in D=4 at three loops and D=5 at two loops. Instead, we explain the results as a natural consequence of the duality between color and kinematics
