Description
In the first half of the talk, after an introduction to the motivations of the study of heavy-flavour observables in heavy-ion collisions, a snapshot of the theoretical modelling of c and b quark production and of their in-medium propagation will be presented. The role of transport calculations will be emphasized and the goal will be to briefly illustrate the various steps necessary to arrive to predictions suited to a comparison with the experimental results. In the second part of the talk, the measurements of D meson production in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=2.76 TeV at the LHC performed by ALICE will be presented. The focus will be on the analysis details.
