Description
It has been shown that the problem of computing the partition function in ABJM theory can be reduced to a thorough understanding of a spectral problem associated to the mirror curve of local P1*P1. In this talk I will discuss this spectral problem. We will see that in a non-perturbative treatment both the standard topological string and the refined topological string in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit, both on local P1*P1, enters in an interesting way. With this understanding at hand we will explain some recent observations relating membrane instantons in ABJM theory to the refined topological string.
