Subject: FW: Funding for Childcare at CERN

          Dear Madam and Sir

Funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) is available through the Member States and regions. The ESF does not fund projects directly from Brussels.
Each Member State or region, together with the European Commission agreed on an Operational Programme for ESF funding for the 2007-2013 period. Operational Programmes set up the priorities for ESF intervention and their objectives.

Participants in ESF projects can be of many different types: public administrations, NGOs and social partners active in the field of employment and social inclusion, enterprises and other relevant stakeholders.

Potential participants in ESF actions should contact the ESF Managing Authority in their own Member State. To find the contacts of the ESF Managing Authority in your country and other relevant information, please visit:

  Kind regards

  Ana Maria Nogueira

Subject: Funding for Childcare at CERN

        Dear Madam and Sir,

We are physicists who are working at CERN. We are also leading a childcare taskforce at CERN.

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the worlds largest and most respected centres for scientific research. Founded in 1954, the CERN Laboratory sits astride the FrancoSwiss border near Geneva. It was one of Europes first joint ventures and now has 20 Member States. It is run by 20 European Member States, each of which has two official delegates to the CERN Council.

The CERN childcare initiative is trying to improve the childcare situation for CERN staff and also for CERN users (people employed by other institutes but working at CERN).

Could you please let us know what the possibilities for funding for childcare from the ESF are as well as what the requirements that have to be met by CERN are?

        Best Regards,

Dr Evangelia Dimovasili, Dr Cigdem Issever and Dr Pauline Gagnon
