Abstract | Precise knowledge of the shape and location of the beam spot, the luminous region where collisions occur, is an important input to many aspects of ATLAS operations, including the vertex reconstruction algorithm, the detector alignment, simulation conditions, and the calibration of the luminosity algorithms using van der Meer scans. This poster describes the fit procedure used to determine the beam spot, and presents beam spot results from 2012 pp fills. |
