Description
The Majorana Demonstrator experiment is currently under construction at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in South Dakota. The experiment will deploy an array of ~30kg of point contact germanium detectors, enriched in 76Ge to search for neutrinoless double-beta decay. One of the main goals of the experiments is to demonstrate a design with unprecedentedly low levels of backgrounds that is suitable to build a tonne scale experiment. This talk will give an overview and status of the experiment, as well as future prospects.
