Description
The United States’ National High Magnetic Field Laboratory hosts an international user community from condensed matter physics, materials research, chemistry, biology and biomedicine. We develop magnet technologies to generate magnetic fields exceeding two million times the Earth’s magnetic field.  This talk seeks to answer the question “Why would anyone want to do such a thing?” by providing a few examples of recent research in materials, energy and life.

Speaker: Gregory S. Boebinger, Director of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Tallahassee, Florida, US

ATS Seminars Organisers: H. Burkhardt (BE), M. Modena (TE), T. Stora (EN)

Coffee / tea will be served after the seminar
