Experiment Dashboard for Site Comissionning Activities on the EGEE and OSG Infrastructures

Abstracts for online demonstrations must provide a summary of the demo content. Places for demos are limited and this summary will be used as part of the selection procedure. Please include the visual impact of the demo and highlight any specific requirements (e.g. network connection). In general, a successful demo is expected to have some supporting material (poster) and be capable of running on a single screen or projector.

This contribution will present in detail two of these applications:
1) Site Availability application based on the results of the SAM tests. Allows to follow the results of SAM tests , both generic or VO specific. Provides the VO-site availability calculation following the VO policy and enables transparent navigation starting from the availability of sites or given services to the concrete details of the related tests.

2) The Site Status board: an application that provides an overview of the different sites according to metrics defined by the VO.

Describe the activity, tool or service using or enhancing the EGEE infrastructure or results. A high-level description is needed here (Neither a detailed specialist report nor a list of references is required).

LHC starts up in 2008. All LHC experiments had choosen for their computing systems the distributed model Multiple computing centers (sites) are providing their computational power and storage for the LHC computing activities. Measuring of the site performance and detecting any problem related to the msiconfiguration of the site is an important issue in the distributed environment. Experiment Dashboard system provides several applications to facilitate the site commissioning task.

Report on the impact of the activity, tool or service. This should include a description of how grid technology enabled or enhanced the result, or how you have enabled or enhanced the infrastructure for other users.

The Experiment Dashboard applications focused on the site comissionning activities had been successfully used for more than half a year by the CMS experiment and currently they are being adapted for all LHC experiments. By design they are not VO specific and can be used by any VO.
The Site Availability application based on the results of SAM tests is being upgraded to be used as an official SAM portal.

Describe the added value of the grid for your activity, or the value your tool or service adds for other grid users. This should include the scale of the activity and of the potential user community, and the relevance for other scientific or business applications.

The LHC Experiments are heavily relying on several GRID infrastructures- EGEE, OSG, NorduGrid. They need the transparent monitoring enabling the overview of the site performance regarding the VO computing activities. This includes performance of the generic Grid services as well as the services which are VO specific.
Experiment Dashboard provides functionality helping the LHC experiments to follow any problems related to the inefficiencies of the Grid services at the sites as well as any site misconfiguration related to the VO specific requirements. It also provides the straight forward way to show the progress of site commissioning activities.
