Measurements of chi_c and chi_b production with ATLAS and CMS

The production of the chi_c1 and chi_c2 charmonium states has been measured in pp collisions at a center of mass energy of 7 TeV by the ATLAS and CMS experiments. In addition, the production cross section ratio for chi_b2 production with respect to chi_b1 production has been measured by CMS at a center of mass energy of 8 TeV. The contribution of these results to our understanding of charmonium hadro-production phenomenology and the prospects for further measurements will be discussed.
