Minutes FCC Software Meeting 18.9.2014 Action items for next meeting: Colin and Benedikt -> continue with data model development DD4hep users and developers -> start on debugging the problems encountered by Carlos. Federico et al -> prepare timeline for the first implementation and example of fastsim w/ Geant4 0) Round table of participants 1) Presentation by Colin Bernet on vision and work packages Q: what is the timescale for the tutorial A: During the FCC-ee workshop in Paris end of october 2) Presentation by Benedikt Hegner on data model ideas Q: how are references between objects to be handlded? A: PODs don't know about pointers. The smart wrappers do. 3) discussion on simulation project Federico Carminati proposes fast sim with Geant4 with a protodetector. Two students of CERN's PH-SFT supervised by Federico and Benedikt will work on that. Initially Geant4 will invoke simple user provided smearing functions, later to be replaced by smarter methods. Work for now decoupled from the other work items. Input is HepMC2 (eventually 3) and output are ROOT tuples. . Since working inside Geant4 already, the move to the full simulation can happen gradually. Common agreement to follow this route Soft statement that an initial example could be ready by end of October. 4) Discussion on DD4hep Carlos Solans Sanchez reported on the problems with DD4hep for the FCC-hh studies. Getting hits out of sensitive detectors triggered problems. He will pass the current status of his work to Markus Frank and Pere Mato for further investigation. Patrick Janot emphasises again that getting a working DD4hep soon is a strong requirement. 5) For completeness Frank Gaede mentions the fortran based SGV simulation used in the linear collider studies.
