Meetings to discuss the tests with the SAMPA chip

26/11/2014 SampaTest Meeting.  - minutes -

Participating: Alex, Arild, Attiq,  Bruno (FR),  Ganesh , Guillaume, Hervé, Hugo,  Kenneth, Ketil,  Marcelo, Marco, Sohail, Zaporozh,

Marcelo: oral report (no slide)

    - Test board production for the detector community

        — the cards are being produced now

        — contacts with the CERN service to organise the mounting (waiting for the CAD file in the requested format)

        — “standard components”(passive) in stock at the service

        — “not standards” ordered… should arrive in a couple of days.

        — HSMC connector (FPGA connector) may be a bit late…

        — aiming to have the board ready in a couple of weeks.

Marco, oral report (no slide)

    - SP activity:

        — start assembling first board2 prototype. Expected to be completed tomorrow.

        — Test&debugging of the board will start immediately.

Discussion about the “dynamical range”.

    - detectors are still studying and discussing the issue.

Ken:

    - not comment (Thanksgiving), he’ll have next week.

    - asked the Cadence file .

Hugo: is willing to do.. to be checked the “not disclosure agreement”.

Alex: commented that part of the information is sharable straightforwardly, but for  some modules/package an explicitly signed agreement is needed.

Hugo: about dynamic range: there is under study some alternative solutions of  implementing a dynamic correction of the baseline… just started, still to agree about the dynamical range reduction, in the case the solution under investigation does not work as needed.

Some discussion btw Hugo and Alex about other strategies. Alex will discuss that also with detector front-end experts. In addition a meeting among design expert will be organise by Alex

To be speeded up the production of the test board. Detectors group are starving for them!
