Description
The year 2015 has been named the International Year of Light, to mark milestones in the science of light which occurred 1000, 200, 150, 100 and 50 years go. It is a good opportunity to reflect about how observations about light have revolutionised our theories in physics and have led to applications which have changed our daily lives. I will start by a historical perspective. I will then take examples of researches performed on invisible microwaves and visible light as well, illustrating my talk with the description of advances in nuclear magnetic resonance and in laser physics during the last fifty years. This will lead me to a general reflection about the connexions between blue sky research and innovation.
Celebrando el Año Internacional de la Luz: ¿cómo la RMN y el láser cambiaron nuestras vidas?
El año 2015 ha sido designado el Año Internacional de la Luz, para marcar hitos en la ciencia de la luz que se produjeron hace 1.000, 200, 150, 100 y 50 años. Es una buena oportunidad para reflexionar sobre cómo las observaciones acerca de la luz han revolucionado nuestras teorías de la física y han dado lugar a aplicaciones que han cambiado nuestra vida diaria. Voy a empezar por una perspectiva histórica. Entonces voy a tomar ejemplos de investigaciones realizadas con microondas invisibles y luz visible, y a ilustrar mi charla con la descripción de los avances de la resonancia magnética nuclear y la física del láser durante los últimos cincuenta años. Esto me va a llevar a una reflexión general sobre las conexiones entre la investigación acerca del azul del cielo y la innovación.
