Description
Cloud computing enables a flexible provisioning of computing resources by utilizing virtual machines on demand, and can provide an elastic data analysis environment. At KEK we plan to integrate cloud-computing technology into our batch cluster system in order to provide heterogeneous clusters dynamically, to support various kinds of data analyses, and to enable elastic resource allocation among the various projects supporting at KEK.
Container-based virtualization provides an alternative approach to virtual machines with a reduction in the overhead associated with the hardware and operating system resources on the host machine. We have evaluated the performance for virtual machines and containers in a cloud environment and have also investigated the performance of collocated instances on the same host machine. This talk will present a comparison of performance between KVM and Docker instances in OpenStack by using Rally.
