Piotr, IR1 investigations

Piotr shows analysis of single files and average over many files. At 20m B1. It seems the average does help

and from far away and close the same fieatures are reproduced at the IP. Starting from 32 is too far. Wiki and plots at:

https://wikis.cern.ch/display/CTF3OP/IR1+Beam+1
https://wikis.cern.ch/display/CTF3OP/IR1+Beam+2

Actually the plan might be to find common correction from 7m.

One case, 1m with corrs, the average misses one BPM because it is missing only in one of the files... -> to think about it.

Piotr confirms that data from last day is rather promissing.

Why we failed so far for IP1:  -becasue of bad data (now it is good!) -error is smaller than IP5 (Lukas will confirm). ->

->We should do an effort to correct IR1 starting from 7m.

What to do? -Prepare a new wiki for plots capabilities -How can the useful info already be extracted in GUI?

Andy, +1 bug

The bad total phase observed on Monday last measurement was due to removing +1...

Andy shows spikes using 40cm after correction. He sees the spikes when very small negative phase advance is measured. Reasons for this could be BPM swap.

Setting the negative phase advance to zero does not work because the error is still small and it is actually the error bar. Our only fix for now is removing these very close BPMs. These are usual BPMs.

->Jaime commits the SVDclean with the ListOfKnownBadBPMs addition

Left to IP6 in beam1 (23LIP1) There is a large unatural deviation of phase which should be further investigated.

Hypothesis: shiftted BPM (order 1m), Optics error via orbit, 'bad' BPM.

-> Complete list of known bad BPMs is the only solution so far

-> Remove the fix of +1 (getting it back to original to avoid problems with total phase)

JAime, Improvements in the GUI

The systematic error files are linked!!! This saves lots of space.

Importing a Results directory the GUI tries to import also the model via a link (it asks for a confirmation). Ana confirms it works!

In the past model was associated with files, now the model for GetLLM is the active one.

It is possible to import measurements, you need to load the folder where the lin_x and lin_y. Only the Sussix output is imported.

-> To be checked: When opening the clean ascii file is SVDclean runing again?

-> Possibility to run 3-BPM method

Ana, IR2

Perfect correction beautiful plot! Only for Bem1, ->look at Beam2.

For 40cm the analysis/model looks very wrong... To be checked.

---------------------------------------------------------

Ewen, IR5

at 40cm there is a clear situation that the correction is very good but it is a compromise.

Ewen thinks removing both Q1 correctors would help with the corrections only at 40cm, but

at larger betas the Q1 corrector are useful.

AT flattop large errors are cancelled, small are left unchanged.

Corrections attempts show that actual corrections are a compromise... hard to improve both beams

Carolina, IP7 and IP8

->plots to be redone!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------

Lukas, IR1 Vs IR5

A direct comparison of IR1 and IR5 errors shows factors between 2 and 4 larger errors in IR5

than in IR1. This partly explains the difficulties to find corrections in IR1.

Big action -> IP1 corrections!!!!!
