Description

The amount of data exchange over networks increases exponentially over time. The drive and need for access to that large amount of data increases the number of connections and the number of networks elements (switches and routers) at the same pace.

An efficient operation requires detailed future-proof design, complex traffic engineering and a good network management strategy to support quick and efficient troubleshooting. However, the high level of complexity of all these factors limits the flexibility and quality of service (QoS) available on these networks.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is the next generation of network design to separate out the data plane and the management plane in order to open up complex networks for the many. The goals are to add flexibility and efficiency to data networks while simplifying the design, operation and maintenance but this is not easily achievable as often the more flexible a netork is made, the more cumbersome the management and control.

Achieving these goals might seem a long way away, however there is a real need for immediate solutions. Net Insight has developed the technology that allows customers achieve these goals today and can demonstrate the building blocks for such a solution.

About the speakers

Thomas Wahlund is Head of Business Segments at Net Insight. He has more than 20 years experience on WAN deployment and operations. He is driving Net Insight’s strategy to lead the SDN trend throughout the world.

Magnus Danielson is a Senior System Architect at Net Insight with almost 20 years experience in R&D on multiservice routing and switching platforms. He is a renowned expert on synchronization technologies and he takes active part in numerous standardizations bodies and international task forces like SMPTE or the VSF JTNM. He was approached on 2011 to help the team investigating the “faster-than-light” neutrino anomaly

Javier Gonzalez is Technical Solution Architect at Net Insight with 15 years experience on designing platforms for the Media industry. He works closely with customers to make sure Net Insight understand the needs and challenges they face when deploying and operating new infrastructures.
