Description
First meeting of the MIXMAX network on innovative pseudo-random number generators.
CERN is hosting the first meeting of the MIXMAX network, a collaboration between European institutes and CERN (EU project MIXMAX-H2020-MSCA-RISE02014) to develop a new class of pseudo-random number generators based on Kolmogorov-Anosov K-systems. These new type of generators demonstrate excellent statistical property and the aim of the project is to turn them in useful products for Monte Carlo simulations and to integrate them in the CERN software applications used by the LHC and other HEP experiments.
During the first meeting, an overview of the current status of the pseudo-random number generators will be presented together with the current development status of these new class of generators. Use cases for pseudo-random number generators in HEP applications such as simulations or statistical analysis will be discussed, in particular the requirements coming from applications running in a concurrent environment.
