DATABASE/SYSTEM SUPPORT FOR CMS DATABASE SERVERS

 

               

 

 

        There can be three shifts. Each will be 8 hours shift to cover the system in 24*7 mode.


DATABASE SUPPORT
 

Db can be categorised in as following depending upon the usage :

PRODUCTION A production database will be used for fully working database applications and will house only "real" data.

INTEGRATION An integration database will be used for testing pre-production database applications. Occasionally, the integration instance may be refreshed with production data.

DEVELOPMENT A development database will be used for database and application development, testing of database features.
 

LEVELS OF SUPPORT

 

LEVEL0  DB Support

          Patches/Upgrade will be scheduled with user community. Production Server at a two weeks notice. Developement and integration servers at a week notice.

        Dbs will be backed up on disk  Support group. Since host support group is involved in restore and recovery will be performed by same group.

LEVEL1  DB Support

This will be limited support i.e. effort will be made to keep the instance running and support will be provided  by database administrators responsible for the shift e.g.

 

LEVEL0  System Support

        This support will be provided by host system admin group.

 

LEVEL1 System  Support

This will be limited support by the shift support group.

Other Miscellaneous Stuff

Log Book

An electronics log book can be mainted to log the activities or action taken on system and databases.


MAILING LISTS

Mailing lists for db group and system group can be maintained.
