Kors -------- Original Message -------- Subject: report from the GDB Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 08:51:14 +0200 From: Kors Bos To: Jeremy Coles Jeremy, this is for the PEB, could you please check? I wrote this on the plane yesterday and so I could not check it against your notes Kors ---------------------------------- All, while you are at the PEB meeting I will be on my way towards Sydney, Australia and I therefor report on the latest GDB through this message. I assume most of you were present yourself at the GDB so my message is rather a reminder of what we discussed and decided rather than a detailed report. A first version of the minutes is already available on the agenda page. I felt we had a very useful GDB with a equally useful day preceding the official GDB on the Service Challenges. Points that we discussed and decided upon: -- A proposal was presented for a procedure for the reporting of vulnerabilities. Information on this was available before the meeting and Linda Cornwall presented it once more in detail during the meeting. All members were invited to study this proposal again and in case of any doubt or questions would react on the GDB list. If no such reaction is received the procedure will be endorsed at the next meeting. -- All Tier-1 centers are requested to provide detailed planning for 2006, and more specifically for sc4, showing when and what will be purchased and when which services will be provided. We expect those plannings by email before the end of this month. N.B. We (I discussed this with Jamie) now plan to send out such a detailed planning for CERN which could serve in a sense as a template showing the level of detail we expect. I also plan to ask a short oral report at the next GDB from each Tier-1 present at the meeting. -- All Tier-1 centers agreed to install an extra node for throughput testing besides the nodes which are needed for the service. N.B. These nodes need to be further specified in detail and be discussed either at the operations workshop or during one of the forthcoming service challenge or GDB meetings -- The VO boxes were discussed but we felt there was a lack of detailed information about them and we would postpone further discussion to the operations workshop. It was felt (but not officially agreed) that boxes were needed for Service Challenge 3 and that the use of VO boxes beyond that were to be discussed again. N.B. As no representatives from the experiments are expected to come to the operations workshop it has been decided meanwhile to put VO boxes explicitly on the agenda for the next GDB in Bologna and ask the experiments to tell us in detail their requirements. -- All representatives are asked to give feed-back on the list of possible GDB meeting dates for 2006 Next meeting is in Bologna on October 11 and 12 and a very provisionally agenda is already on the web.
