Description
LHCb is a general purpose forward spectrometer at the LHC, optimised for the study of heavy flavour hadrons. During LS1 the LHCb trigger and reconstruction was optimised, allowing LHCb to become the first high energy physics experiment to perform full alignment, calibration and event reconstruction in real-time. Data collected at the start of the fill are processed in a few minutes and used to update the alignment, while the calibration constants are evaluated for each run. This enables LHCb to achieve the best possible reconstruction performance already in the trigger, and allows physics analyses to be performed directly on the data produced by the trigger reconstruction (TURBO stream), with no additional offline event reconstruction. We present the development and status of this real-time processing with reference to the first physics results published in Run II.
