Smaller VOs - Need pilot based system to use all this - So would need to go to GridPP DIRAC (eg Pheno at Durham) Site updates relating to Vac, Cloud, and VMs - UCL upgraded to current web-managed Vac-in-a-Box - Call for smaller sites to volunteer to try Vac (Durham interested) Tier-2 Evolution: Storage ------------------------- Dynamic federation could simplifies sites Interest at ATLAS software week eg xrootd service Go to smaller Tier-2 "silo sites" with caching - Still have larger Tier-2s with long term storage - SLAC xrootd implementation should be able to do this - Data reuse problem: cache misses - Not feasible to tell what a site has cached from outside - Attach smaller Tier-2s to larger and direct jobs that need the larger site's data to them Bristol, 250TB HPFS, mostly local users files, 5Gb/s ~200 CMS jobs Other updates from the Storage Group ------------------------------------ - RAL Ceph work, proceeding well Networking including IPv6 ------------------------- - Fixes to MadDash meshes presented on maddash.aglt2.org Security -------- NTR HEP Software Foundation ----------------------- - Several draft technical notes will probably be published after the meeting today AOB --- Next meeting in two weeks
