Description

LHCb has recently measured the oscillation frequency of B0 mesons, Delta md, with unprecedented precision. The measurement is performed using the semi-leptonic decays B0 to D- μ+νμ, with D- to K+ π- π-, and B0 to D*- μ+νμ, with D*- to Dbar0 (K+π-) π-.

The result is Delta md = (505.0 ± 2.1 ± 1.0) ns-1. This is the most precise measurement of Delta md to date, with an overall uncertainty that is smaller than that of the current world average. The details of the measurement will be discussed in this seminar, notably including flavour tagging, which is one of the key aspects of the analysis.
