Welcome to the first edition of a series of “Topical Workshop on Beam Energy Scan” (BEST 2016). This is also an inaugural collaboration meeting for the Beam Energy Scan Theory (BEST) Collaboration which has recently become a DOE-funded project. The meeting will take place from May 9 to May 11, 2016 at the Center for Exploration of Energy and Matter (CEEM) of Indiana University Bloomington (2401 N. Milo B. Sampson Lane, Bloomington IN 47408).

The goal of this workshop is to bring together theorists and experimentalists to discuss physics opportunities for exploring phases of QCD matter at the RHIC Beam Energy Scan program and to lay out a plan of investigation in the next few years. The physics topics of interest include: phase transition and equation of state at finite temperature and density, modeling of bulk evolution, hydrodynamic fluctuations and correlations, anomalous transport effects, global data analysis, etc.

The Workshop Agenda has now been posted: please click here. The indico-style timetable with talk slides will be added later.

Please read carefully the lodging information here and travel information here, as well as a simple map here indicating locations of meeting place and hotels. Please note the  deadline of April 8th  for hotel reservation with workshop rate and for workshop registration.

The BEST 2016 Workshop acknowledges support from the U.S. Department of Energy through the BEST Collaboration. This event is co-sponsored by the Indiana University Center for Exploration of Energy and Matter, the Indiana University Department of Physics, and the Indiana University Center for Spacetime Symmetries.

BEST 2016 Workshop Organizing Committee:

V. Koch (LBNL), J. Liao (IU/RBRC), S. Mukherjee (BNL), H.-U. Yee (UIC/RBRC).

BEST 2016 Workshop Coordinator: M. Wright (IU CEEM).
