DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Cristina Manuel (CSIC-IEEC)\nWe show that effective
field theory techniques can be applied \nin the high temperature T plasmas
to\nimprove the accuracy of the physics of the hard scales ( or scales of
order T).\nAt leading order in the\ncoupling constant the hard scales o
f the plasma can be viewed as\non-shell classical particles. Based on this
observation\, and without any\nreference\nto the state of the system\, we
derive an effective field\ntheory describing the quantum fluctuations aro
und an on-shell fermion with\nenergy p\, described as a set of high dime
nsion operators over the on-shell energy\np. When applied to systems close
to equilibrium\, when for most on-shell particles p ~ T\, \n we show th
at the\non-shell effective field theory (OSEFT) properly describes the H
TL photon\npolarization tensor of QED\, and its 1/T corrections. We also s
how how with\nthe OSEFT one can derive quantum corrections\nto classical t
