Things to do in the area

The town of Williamsburg is located in Southeast Virginia on the Mid-Atlantic coast of the United States. It is central to a popular tourist area of the country known as the Historic Triangle.

Early summer is a good time of year to visit as many of the nearby attractions are open full time, and the area beaches are warm enough for a swim and a vacation. Popular nearby family attractions include:

Local to Williamsburg:

Busch Gardens/Water Country (large amusement parks)

Jamestowne (historic site)

Go Ape  (a treetop zip-line adventure)

Within an hour's drive:

Yorktown (historic site)

NASA Air and Space Museum

Mariner's Museum

Virginia Living Museum

Virgina Beach Oceanfront (popular beach resort area)

Two to three hour's away:

Outer Banks/Kitty Hawk (quiet beaches, Wright Brothers first flight memorial)

Washington DC

Charlottesville/Monticello  (Thomas Jefferson's home)

Shenandoah National Park (Appalachian mountains)
