High Performance Computing systems Laboratory,HPCL, (Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus) is organizing a Training the Trainers event on May 6, 2009. The event will take place at Room 146, Department of Computer Science, UCY New Campus, Nicοsia.
The event is divided in three major subjects:
Preparing and structuring a training event in EGEE-III
Introduction to Grids (security, applications, logging, ...)
Grid in action (training, data management and job submission)
Although in the first part of the training agenda specific topics on how to organize training events and structure training courses in the EGEE-III will be addressed, this must not prevent other people, not involved directly to the NA3 activity, to register and attend the training event.
We welcome people that have Grid experience as administrators, users or developers to join us in this one day event, get familiar with the EGEE-III training procedures and attend advanced topic courses.
Cyprus is missing public transportation infrastructures. There are busses that follow the most important routes arround the city but this is done about every hour. Thus, buses are not the most convenient way to move around the city.
Taxis in Cyprus are kind of expensive. A typical price for the route Larnaka Airport => Nicosia is about 50 euros.
It will be difficult to stop a taxi on the road to take you so, you will have to call a taxi agency so that someone comes to get you.
There are shuttle buses that can take you from the Airport to Nicosia. The price is about 10 euros. They will not take you to your hotel so, after you arrive to Nicosia, you can ask the people from the company to call a taxi for you that will take you to your hotel. This is the address with the schedules.
