Hi everybody, Welcome to this presentation. My name is Alexandre and I work as student for the IT department at CERN. With this tutorial I would like to tell you how to well prepare for your own tutorial. So, before recording... Write a script and give it a structure in order to tell your audience where you are and where you will go Do not forget to introduce yourself and explain clearly what is the subject of the tutorial as well as its different stages. Still before recording... Rehearse as much as possible and ask colleagues who know the subject to give you feedback The creation of content demands time and resources then do not hesitate to check what is already available on the web before creating a tutorial. Take care of the clarity of what you will present. Regarding the general rules... Short online tutorials should not exceed 5 minutes to maintain attention of your audience so measure the time. And use a teleprompter to make your words more fluent. Do not forget to show what you are speaking about during the tutorial. Concerning the technicalities... Check that any applications, notifications or advertising are turned off and do not forget to set your computer in a language relevant to your audience If you have slides select the 16/9 landscape and point on the slides the content which you are speaking about Regarding the consistency... What you show should match what you promote Comply also to computing security rules and do not use personal data.Create fake accounts instead. Finally, use a logo in order to create a visual identity In the process of recording... You should start with the homepage of the application you present or a corporate one Do not hesitate to put a paper sign on the door to avoid people making noise Use a chair without wheels in order not to move and keep your hands visible Remove any object that holds a commercial label on it from the area that will get in your video For the technical rules... do not type commands live. Rather prepare HTML pages or slides to avoid stress for you or misleading the audience if you get wrong with the commands If a package is already installed tell if it will install again or not Do not forget to ask the viewers to READ the terms of use before checking the license agreements And be User-friendly... Show the users where they can contact you if you tell them to do so and say if the installation process is standard if you skip its details Finally, provide multiple video formats to avoid compatibilities issues with browsers. Last but not least... Smile and live, act and record like you could not fail at all Thank you for following this presentation, see you soon and goodbye
