Description
The Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics of the NCSR "Demokritos" in Athens is hosting the Conference and MTR meeting of the MIXMAX Consortium, a collaboration between MS, TC institutions and CERN (EU project MIXMAX-H2020-MSCA-RISE-2014) to develop a new class of pseudo-random number generators based on Anosov-Kolmogorov systems. These new type of generators demonstrate excellent statistical property, and the aim of the project is to turn them into a useful product for Monte Carlo simulations and to integrate them into the CERN software applications used by the LHC and other HEP experiments. The aim of the Conference is to summarise the overall progress and the results which have been obtained by the Consortium during the first two years of the MIXMAX project, 2015 - 2016, devoted to the development and implementation of a new family of pseudorandom number generators based on Anosov-Kolmogorov systems and to the discuss the future plans. The use of resources, the project management, the dissemination/outreach activities, the scientific, technical, social, commercial and environmental impact will be discussed as well.
