Tom Gallant has been working in administrative management at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory since 2000. He has spent time in each of the scientific divisions in the Physical Sciences Area (Nuclear Science, Physics, and Accelerator Technology and Applied Physics). Currently serving as the Principal Administrator for the Nuclear Science Division, he supports the Nuclear Science Division Director assisting with the management of operations in the division. He serves as the co-chair of the Lambda Alliance Employee Activity Association, a 150 member LGBTIQQA+ group of employees whose goal it is to enhance the work environment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This goal is realized by promoting an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, enhance policies of nondiscrimination, create guidance for institutional processes, identify and address emerging issues or challenges, increase visibility and awareness, and recognize achievements impacting our community. You can see the work of the Berkeley Lab Lambda Alliance at go.lbl.gov/lambda. Tom also helped found the National Lab Pride (NLP) consortium whose members consist of LGBTQ+ scientists, engineers, technicians, and operations professionals within the U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory complex. The NLP mission is to promote LGBTQ+ visibility within the DOE NL system; collaborate on outreach and networking opportunities; connect with LGBTQ+ leaders, staff, and students (within the NL system, as well as external contacts); and share resources and best practices for diversity and inclusion (e.g. policies, guidelines, trainings, recruitment and hiring, outreach, retention, career development, and more).
