Install Self-Service

Hello I’m Vincent. I'm going to present you the Mac Self-Service at Cern. Mac Self-Service is a functionality that gives you easy access to several applications and configurations for computers at Cern. So to install this, Launch internet browser and go to the page https://mdm.cern.ch/enroll. Then you can use your Cern credentials to log in. Click on the Download button, Mac Self-Service package will be downloaded in your download folder. Open this package. 
A install wizard will open.
Click on continue and then on install. It will ask you for your local username and password. The installation process may take a few minutes. When it's done, Mac Self-service will open automatically. At this point you can close the installation wizard by clicking on close. 

Install Scep

So to install any applications available from the Mac Self-Service. Open the Self-Service application. You can find it in the application folder. It named Mac Self-Service. 

When you open the app, your screen should be like this. Use your Cern credentials to log in in the app. Then you will have access to plenty softwares and configurations.

You'll find Microsoft Office, Firefox, Gimp. For each software you'll have an install or uninstall button, depending if the software is already installed in your computer or not. For now, we're going to install Microsoft Scep antivirus for the demo. Just click on the install button. On the top of the screen, you might see a process bar. Self-Service are download and installing the package. This process might from a few seconds to several minutes. 

When the installation process is done, Self-service will refresh the page and the install button will become uninstall. This means everything went fine. At the top right of the screen you should be able to see the Scep icon too.

Install a printer

So you can use Mac Self-Service to install a printer. For this you have the printer add button on the bottom left of the Self-Service screen. You should click on if, you will get a long list like this with all the printer available at Cern. The first one of the list are the printer nearest to you, in you building for example. You can select multiple printer at the same time. You can still select a printer wherever you want at Cern campus. When you finished selecting, click on ok. And then wait, Self-Service will download and install the drivers for the printer you selected. it might take a few minutes. if you're connecting via Wi-Fi it might be slower. Then you'll have a small notification saying that the printers have been correctly installed.
And if you go on System preferences, you can check all the printers that you selected are available.
