Hi Dick, Pat, Horst, Joel and Jim, I also am sorry for missing the lunch. The general idea of the formal structure within DoSAR Dick made seems to be reasonable. We, however, must decide what the roles of each component are to make sure that these components are not just there to meet without a clear focus on the responsibilities. I presume we will have a separate chair for the EC who makes up the agenda and calls meetings, etc, while the convener is the one responsible for day-to-day operation of the group and for calling the bi-weekly meetings. Having an alternative rep to OSG seems to be a good idea, given the load of our rep. This person, again, does not necessarily have to be the convener of the organization. The one year term of the convenership seems to be a bit too short. To my mind, you need at least two years to make the group working properly. Anyhow, we can continue on this discussion in the next few months. We must include SPRACE and Tata in this discussion. We could have a goal of having this organizational structure in place and vote for it at the meeting in Brazil. By the way, Sergio and Eduardo proposes Sept. 3 and 4 for the workshop. I will have to check my detailed schedule to see if these dates are ok but you all should do as well. Finally, I will send a thank-you message to Tefik for his hospitality shortly this morning. I wanted to beat the Friday afternoon traffic out of Baton Rouge (I was only partially successful) and to introduce Abdelkader to a particular cajun restaurant near Lafayette (that worked). Anyway, did you guys talk further about Dosar organizational structure? You mentioned this during our last session. > > Here are some thoughts I've had. > > We already have a table that lists the IAC's, with IAC representatives and Technical contacts on http://www-hep.uta.edu/dosar/. There should be separate mailing list for the EC. And this EC should try to meet at least once a month to make sure we are staying on course (this may be unnecessary if we all attend the usual biweekly meetings). > > Convener > Perhaps should probably be a rotating position held by the various EC members for a minimum period of a year, say. I don't mind doing it, but there have been times when I've wanted to rotate off. Suggestions? If we decide to do this, whoever we select will have to be approved by a majority of the OSG Council. > > It was good to see everyone at LSU. Which reminds me: we should try to keep Tevfik engaged in Dosar. He could be a big asset in an interstate grid development strategy. Maybe our next big goal during the next year? > > > Your thoughts? > > Regards, > Dick
