Description

In this talk I will discuss several recent trends in Canadian neutron scattering, as determined from a study of neutron publication data. The main goal of this study was to identify: (1) where Canadian scientists have been carrying out their neutron scattering experiments, (2) what type of techniques and instrumentation they have been utilizing, (3) which fields of science they have been working on, and (4) how these trends have evolved over time. Given the planned shutdown of the NRU reactor at Chalk River in 2018, it is particularly instructive to compare bibliographic data from the Canadian neutron scattering community to those of other countries (such as Sweden and Denmark) which have recently closed their own large national neutron sources.
