CERN
Remote: Andrei, Milosz, Raja, Wojciech
Present: Chris, Vladimir, Marcelo, Andrew, Cinzia, Philippe, Zoltan, Joel
Minutes/matters from last meeting
Active MQ: Joel opened the ticket https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-606
Still no news from Wojciech regarding the authentication with proxies.
lb-run in ganga: discussion ongoing with them to find the strategy. This does not prevent us to release anything https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-625
dirac and sse4: this is now a development issue.
Renaming of the site: accounting won't be changed, so the ticket can be closed (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-329). The renaming procedure will be added to the twiki. Remove BOINC.cern.ch from the CS.
LHCbDIRAC installation: Status of servers, DBs, build machines…
Move of the sandbox on will happen Tuesday morning. The procedure is described on the Jira task (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-621). Vladimir, as GEOC, will send email to users on Monday.
lbvoboxo06 can be fully retired.
Ask Wojciech about lbvobox50.
The move from lbtestvobox to lbtestvobox3 is ongoing, and the machine will be reinstalled with CentOS7
Federico should share the permissions on readthedocs.
This page has to redirect to readthedoc: http://lhcb-release-area.web.cern.ch/LHCb-release-area/DOC/lhcbdirac/ redirect to read the doc. https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-635
The personal account on lbwms has been removed.
We have asked for VM attached volumes with increased IO performances to enhance Mesos rollout speed.
DIRAC/LHCbDIRAC Releases planning and installation
CentOS7:
we need a better testing for CentOS7. One of the testvobox will be reinstalled as CentOS7, and the ProxyManager will be installed on it. (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-646) Note that the services run in docker are already based on a cc7 image. The client tests of the certification procedure will also be run on lxplus7.
There is currently a problem with the External v6r5p4 on CentOS7 related to openssl (https://github.com/DIRACGrid/Externals/issues/26) We need to test if the new RAL upgrade allows to use a more recent openSSL https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-647
gfal2:
The release went mostly smoothly for LHCb, except some sites that showed dependency problems: two plugins (lfc which requires liblfc, and http which requires some boost libraries) and the core of gfal2 which requires glib >=2.28. Chris to ask Atlas if they had such issues, and to see with the Gfal2/Davix developers if we could ignore the errors, and compile statically (https://its.cern.ch/jira/browse/LHCBDIRAC-648). The next step will be to go without SRM, but this needs some fixes for BaseSE and XROOT (pending PR). There is a side effect: currently when asking for an accessURL, we get an error if the file does not exist; this will disappear when using the xroot/gsift plugins. This should be advertised.
JobWrapper:
Philippe did some investigation and realized that the watchdog is started with the payload, and is watching the payload, not the job. This means it misses the input data resolution, and the wallclock time reported is not correct. This is now a development issue, but Philippe agreed to port his private mail to some of us into DIRAC doc
v8r6
We are still waiting for a release of LbScripts. Moreover, the jenkins tests are not satisfying. Thus we will have one more patch release of v8r5.
Conferences planning and reports
ISGC:
Andrei is giving a talk about the virtualized resources available to DIRAC.
Chris is organizing a workshop on Containers
CHEP:
Paper to be submitted before 6th February. Internal review ongoing.
Reports from other meetings/decisions
Andrew is going to represent LHCb for the DB12 at the pre-gdb on benchmarking Tuesday 2 weeks.
Workshop on EOS at cern next week.
We will have two ISIMA students: one to work on a centralized log system and replace gLogger by standard python logger; The other one to evaluate candidates to replace the homemade xml rpc of DIRAC.
To avoid missing important information in the future, it was agreed with the PAC and Gaudi chairmen that we will read each others minutes.
AOB
Atomic number of the week: 54 Xenon http://www.chemicalelements.com/elements/xe.html Chocolate for Federico :-)
BOINC: We will have Simulation jobs with Gauss only
