Description

Established in 2011, Arts at CERN is the official arts programme engaging with art at the cutting edge of scientific research. It offers a whole series of activities around arts and science at CERN, with a clear focus on four artistic research residencies and 3 special visits per year (Collide, Accelerate and Guest Artists).

Cassandre Poirier-Simon won the prize Collide Geneva 2016 with Arts at CERN and did her residency from November 2016 to January 2017. She is a designer working in the field of digital writing. During her residency at CERN she was supported with the guide and partnership of Maria Dimou, CERN IT Department, as scientific partner. Also, during this period the Arts at CERN team curated and coordinated visits to experiments, encounters and conversations with scientists, engineers and staff at CERN.

The COLLIDE Geneva Residency Award is part of an ongoing cultural partnership between Arts at CERN the Canton of Geneva, and the City of Geneva. Join us by registering below.

Besides her work in outreach and educational digital games, her research area is poetry within digital narrations and she specialises in the structure of stories (content and reading system). She came to CERN with an interest in the structures of space and time and the intention to map stories on them. In mid-March, shortly after the end of her residency, she organised a digital writing workshop on narration structures in space using Google Street View as a playground. Four projects emerged thanks to the twelve participants.
