Schedule (H. Wilkens):
Technical Stop 3 is reduced to 24hours, and anticipated by a day to Sept. 19th. The UA9 run in the SPS machine will take place on Monday 18th, and the COLDEX run on Wednesday 20th. No beam to NA from 18/09 8AM to 21/09 8AM.
PS report (H. Damerau): see slides
In total 7h30 of down time (88% availability), many origines: PSB wire-scanner exchange, Pole Face Windings, Linac 2 missed pulses, ... Heiko then explained the new RF phase adjustement scheme (MHS) to which we are migrating in the PS. This should be mostly transparent to the users.
SPS report (K. Cornelis): see slides
Downtime dominated by the injector availability, and power converters which needed to be serviced an put back in function, some mishaps occurred in the process. This is fine since Tuesday. A quadrupole magnet is sinking (-4mm), due to ageing plastic supports. This has be stabelised and will be re-aligned in the TS.
EAST AREA:
T8 IRRAD & CHARM (F. Ravotti):
Everything OK, a power converter under test has been replaced yesterday in the CHARM facility. Long irradiations are currently scheduled in IRRAD. Due to the increasing activation in the facility, the length of the cool-down before access is increasing. Federico asked to propagate the timing signals only on the beams extracted to the facility (be careful when swapping between MHS and legacy beam)
T9 SHiP Emulsions:
T9 RE22 PANDA:
T10 TOF-MRPC (C. Williams):
Everything is OK.
T10 ITS:
nTOF:
The current experiment in EAR2 is nearing completion and thus back ground studies are ongoing. It is therefore ask to keep the current beam (not MHS) till this is completed on Wednesday. Then there will be a 1 day stop. PS operators will be informed in time. The experiment in EAR1 is progressing well.
NORTH AREA:
H2 NA61-neutrino (E. Kaptur):
The run with 30GeV/c π+ completed, now running 60GeV/c π-. The new TPCs are working fine. A new DAQ and monitoring has been put in operation.
H4 GIF (M. Jaekel):
Everything OK, on more week to complete the programs of the user groups. No show stopper in sight. Good collaboration with RD51 upstream.
H4 RD51 (Y. Tsipolitis):
Will continue in parasitic mode, for the micropad detectors. Will coordinate access with GIF.
H4 Goliath Field map (N. Charotonidis):
Field map data was collected at 0.5, 1 and 1.5 T settings. Remains to be done is the stray field measurements.
H4 CALOCUBE:
H6 HGTD (R. Prolifka):
The HGTD run was successful, a lot could be done by running all sensors in parallel in the cold box. The equipment is stored in H6A till the next beam test in 3 weeks.
H6 RD42 (A. Gorisek) :
Taking data since yesterday, beam position and intensity are good. A wide beam is being used.
H6 CILCpix (D. Dannheim):
Already taking data parasitically, had to align telescope to new beam position. Will use the same setup next week. The beam intensity will then be increased, and the focus moved to the CLICpix timepix telescope.
H8 LHCb:
H8 ATLAS muons:
H8 NA62 GTK:
H8 UA9 (M. Garattini):
Everything is ready. Karel asked if the micro beam will be used, as access to the areas close to the target is not possible during Wednesday MDs. This because of the ongoing SHiP extraction studies. The answer is no.
H8 ToTem:
NA62 (M. Zamkovsky):
Many problems with the spectrometer magnet MNP33 between Saturday and Tuesday. It turned out to be caused by a temperature probe on the rectifier belonging to the fire detection system which was faulty. As it is redundant, it has been masked and a replacement is being procured. L. Gatignon stressed the complicated investigation. NA62 expressed their gratefulness to the piquets services involved during the weekend and nights. Also a quad tripped in K12
Some perturbations were observed on the spill quality Tuesday. Karel explained there was a problem on the compensation monitoring, and the operators had no information to adjust the tune till this was fixed.
H. Wilkens asked if an intensity increase is foreseen. The answer is no, T4 at 35 giving 18 to 20 on T10 is fine.
NA58 COMPASS (J. Barth):
Everything is fine.
AWAKE (E. Gschwendtner):
Commissioning progressing well, will stop on Monday. The physics run will start Friday next week.
